Mindfulness in a creative life..

Finding calm amidst life's many storms is a challenge.

There's more than one way to practice mindfulness. However, it's easy to say you don't have time. Being mindful is important for our memory, sense of self, and overall well-being. Over the years, I've spent time exploring new ideas, creativity, business plans and more ideas... I enjoy spending time with friends; it is my calm, happiness, peace, and real laughter area of life.

Another approach to mindfulness is "open awareness," which helps you stay present and fully participate in specific moments in life. Here are some new ideas:
When creating a business plan, try 'single-tasking', bringing your attention fully to what you're doing
When being creative, engage each of your senses
When trying a new hobby, gently refocus your attention if your mind wanders from the task
When considering a new idea or painting, acknowledge and understand any cravings or urges, and let them pass so that you can get back to concentrating, using your memory, and being mindful of your new creation

I'm not afraid of failing. People who dislike uncertainty often feel anxious, and it's important not to let this led to impulsive actions that undermine your self-confidence. If we focus too much on avoiding stress, we may miss out on positive experiences that build our self-confidence.

I believe that uncertainty makes positive events more exciting. The key is to keep going and understand that there are highs and lows in life. Dealing with the lows takes time, patience, and strength. Learning techniques to live with them, without worry, is important.

I'm having a two year sabbatical from tutoring art and painting, but I will continue to blog and be creative with laughter and light. Warm regards, Sophie Mill
